Comments (0)

Everyone can agree that it can be very stressful to have to spend a lot of money to fix your car after an accident. But even if you never get in an accident, if you aren’t careful you could end up spending a lot of money to keep your car running smoothly. It may seem small and unnecessary but regular car maintenance is very important if you are trying to make your car last as long as possible. Here are a few tips to keep up with car maintenance and reduce overall car expenses:

  • Don’t Speed- this is a no brainer, not only will this save money on speeding tickets but speeding also uses up more gas, costing more money overtime
  • Don’t Sit Idle- if you are parked, turn off the car to save gas
  • Try to Reduce Air Conditioning- running the air constantly reduces fuel economy overtime, try rolling the windows down every now and then if possible
  • Don’t Break Hard- breaking hard wears down the life of your brakes, try coming to a stop slowly to preserve brake life
  • Change Oil and Air Filters- change as often as instructed, this will preserve the life of your car
  • Accelerate Slowly- this is much better for your engine and allows it to warm up faster, letting it sit while it’s running wastes gas and is not the most effective way to warm up your car
  • Combine Errands- this will reduce the number of trips you have to make throughout the week, reducing gas expenses

Cars can be very expensive to fix so it is very important to be aware of the various ways to keep your car in tip-top shape. Sometimes big car expenses are inevitable but by following these tips, you can significantly reduce the amount of little expenses overtime. If you wait too long or do not keep up with maintenance, you could end up having to spend more money to fix your car if it breaks down.
