Drunk Driver Crashes Into Motorcyclist in Downtown Charleston
October 27, 2010 - A Charleston man is facing serious charges after he hit a motorcyclist with his truck while driving under the influence of alcohol. According to a report at ABC 4 News Charleston, the drunk-driving accident occurred Sunday night.
Few details about this crash have been released, but initial reports indicate that the driver was behind the wheel of a Toyota pickup truck when he ran a red light at the intersection of Spring and Coming Streets in downtown Charleston. His truck crashed into a motorcyclist who was driving through the intersection with a green light.
The truck also crashed into a building after colliding with the motorcycle. The victim has not yet been identified, but police say he or she was driving a red Kawasaki motorcycle. The victim's current condition is unknown, but they are currently being treated for personal injuries at MUSC Medical Center.
The driver of the pickup truck, who also suffered personal injuries in the crash, has been identified as a 32-year-old man from Charleston. Police have charged him with felony drunk driving.
