Fatal Head-on Collision Leaves Two Lowcountry South Carolina Women Dead

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a three car accident resulted in the deaths two South Carolina women on Friday afternoon. Officials report that Peggy Jean Smith of Walterboro and Darleen Shea Plyler were killed upon impact when one of the drivers crossed the center line on U.S. 378 in Gresham, South Carolina. After the collision, a third oncoming vehicle crashed in to the vehicles driven by Smith and Plyler. One witness said Smiths's vehicle crossed the center line several times before hitting Plyler's vehicle. The two women died and several others were taken to the hospital. Police are still investigating the accident.
