Funeral Services Held for Nicole Miller, 20, Killed by Runaway Truck at Music Festival

Funeral Services will be held today for 20-year-old Nicole Miller of Mount Pleasant, SC.  Miller was a 2010 graduate of Wando High School and had completed two semesters toward an associate of culinary arts degree at Trident Technical College.  She was pronounced dead on the scene when a runaway pickup truck careened down a slippery hill and struck her tent at the All Good Music Festival in Masontown, W.V. on the morning of Sunday, July 17th, 2011.  Miller and her friends had been sleeping peacefully in their tent before the tragedy.

The other two occupants of the tent, Elizabeth "Rose" Doran, 20, and Yen Ton, 21, both of Mount Pleasant, survived the incident but sustained heavy injuries.  They are reported to be in good condition, in spite of such severe injuries as Doran's broken pelvis. 

Currently, there have been no charges filed against the driver of the truck. According to some witness reports, festival staff had been directing vehicles to park in wet, hilly areas normally considered to be too close to the campgrounds to be considered safe.  Further, there had already been at least three earlier reports of sliding vehicles -- enough to be considered due notice of unsafe conditions.

Police are working to recreate the instances of the accident to gain further insight.  Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors.
