Jamestown Man Killed in SUV Rollover Accident
November 18, 2010 - A Jamestown resident was killed on Wednesday in a rollover accident. According to a report in the Charleston Post and Courier, the fatal car accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has not completed their investigation into this fatal crash, but initial reports indicate that the victim was driving a Jeep Cherokee eastbound on French Santee Road. Although they are not sure if speed was involved in the rollover accident, deputies say the victim lost control of his vehicle, which then crashed on the side of the road and rolled several times.
The victim, who was not buckled in, suffered massive injuries due to being ejected from the vehicle. First responders transported him by ambulance to Moncks Corner Hospital, but his injuries were too severe and he could not be revived. The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as a 49-year-old man from Jamestown.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing, and it has not yet been determined if there were any factors that contributed to the rollover. There were no other passengers in the SUV.
