Motorcyclist Dies in Charleston One Month After Crash
November 9, 2010 - A motorcyclist who was hit by a car more than a month ago died from his injuries on Saturday at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. According to a report at The Sun News, the victim had been hospitalized since the accident took place, which occurred on Oct. 2 in Horry County.
The victim, a 64-year-old man from Hamer, was taking part in the Grand Strand motorcycle rally shortly after 11 a.m. Police say the victim was stopped at a light at the intersection of S.C. 544 and U.S. 17 when he was rear-ended by a car. The victim was airlifted to Medical University of South Carolina, where he received treatment for his injuries for more than a month. The hospital has not said what ultimately led to his death and a cause of death has not been released.
Another motorcyclist was also injured in this incident. This victim has not been identified but was treated and released from Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. The driver who caused this fatal accident has also not been identified. Police have not said if the driver will face any charges in connection with this now fatal motorcycle accident.
