A new software called CellSafety has been developed by WebSafety to allow parents to monitor their children and stop texting while driving. The software is downloaded on to cell phones and gives parents the ability to monitor their children from anywhere around the world 24/7. One of its best features is its ability to disable cell phone texting systems while someone is driving. The software uses the cell phones GPS technology to disable texting once a car is going 10 miles per hour. The software is sure to put power back in parents' hands and save lives.

New Software Stops Teens From Texting While Driving

Texting while driving has become an epidemic. Recently, there have been studies, commercials, print advertising, and other efforts to support the ban of texting while driving.

The National Safety Council estimates that cell phone use while driving causes at least 1.6 million car accidents each year. Furthermore, the University of Utah also recently completed a study on texting while driving and found that drivers who text are six times more likely to get in an accident than those who do not. Just last month, legislation banned commercial drivers from texting while driving a commercial vehicle and, throughout the country, states are debating a complete prohibition on texting while driving.

For teenagers, cell phones and texting are like a life line. Some act as if they would not survive without their precious cell phones. (Many adults are like this too!) It is when teenagers get behind the wheel that cell phones can cause injury and even death to themselves and/or others. That is why new software has been developed by WebSafety to allow parents to monitor their children any time the wish to. The software is called CellSafety and, once downloaded on a teenager’s cell phone, can allow parents a multitude of control.

Parents can monitor their children’s whereabouts, be notified if their children enter or leave a certain area, set up "no call" zones and can even be used to stop "sexting" by teenagers. But, one of the most beneficial abilities that this new software gives parents is the ability to monitor their children’s driving habits and stop them from texting while they drive.

To do this, the software syncs with the GPS system in the cell phone and monitors a person’s speed while driving. Once the car starts moving ten miles per hour or more, the software will disable the cell phones texting capabilities. The software also takes stop lights and stop signs into consideration and does not allow texting until the car has been stationary for a couple of minutes.

CellSafety cost $149 and must be renewed annually. For more information on WebSafety, click here to visit their website.

The software is a must have for parents who not only wish to monitor their teenagers more, but want to prevent their children from texting while driving. I would not be surprised if text blocking capabilities become standard to every cell phone in the coming years. Until then, drivers should make every effort to not text while driving.

Some other things the software does is notify parents when they key in certain words such as suicide, sexting, and the lingo kids use when they are texting. It also notifys parents when the teen is being cyberbullied on social sites like facebook. It will also block porn sites. And finally the texting can be disabled in geographical zones including their school.
