North Charleston Police Release More Details on Nov. Hit-and-Run
December 8, 2010 - Police say the driver in a November hit-and-run accident in North Charleston intentionally hit the victim before fleeing the scene. According to a report at the Charleston Post and Courier, the driver got into a fight with the victim in the moments before the accident, which occurred on Nov. 20.
Police say the driver and victim were outside a home in North Charleston when a fight broke out. The driver has been identified as a 29-year-old man. After the fight broke up, the driver apparently got into his car, intentionally hit the victim in the leg, and then drove over the home's chain-link fence. The victim, a 20-year-old male, was not seriously injured.
Police believe the fight stemmed from the fact that the victim's sister has previously been involved with the driver. The driver fled the scene in his car after hitting the victim and was already gone by the time police officers arrived on the scene.
The driver has been charged with aggravated assault, and he may be facing additional charges for destruction of property.
