December 15, 2010 - Seven vehicles were involved in a serious car crash in Charleston last Thursday. According to a report at Live 5 News, the accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Investigators with the Charleston Police Department say the vehicles were traveling on Interstate 526 when the pile-up happened near Ashley River Road.

Pictures from the scene show a light-colored SUV flipped up on its front tires with a red sedan wedged completely underneath the vehicle. Photos also show a Silver Toyota Camry with minor back-end damage.

It's not clear how many people were involved in the crash, but 2 victims suffered personal injuries. One of those injuries was minor and only required treatment from paramedics. The second victim was transported by ambulance to a Charleston hospital. The injuries are described as non-life-threatening and the victim is expected to survive. Their identities have not been released.

The accident snarled traffic on I-526 for several hours as fire and police officials cared for the injured and cleared the wreckage from the scene. Numerous tow trucks were enlisted to clear the damaged vehicles.
