Fatal Accidents and Wrongful Death
Woman Dead After Rock Thrown Through Windshield
Alicia Thomas of Spartanburg, SC died Easter night after she was struck by a rock thrown into her car from an overpass. The rock was thrown by two North Carolina teenagers who have been charged with first-degree murder for her death.
Thomas, a 23-year old, mother of two boys, ages five and six, was born and raised in Clio, SC and had recently moved to Spartanburg to be with family.
Thomas and her mother, Henrietta Staggers, were driving home Sunday night after visiting family for Easter. Thomas was sleeping in the passenger's seat when a rock flew through the windshield and struck her. Thomas died instantaneously from the impact.
The teenagers were 16-year old Cody Chavis of Rockingham and his 15-year old friend, whose identity cannot be released because of his age.
Thomas did not have insurance. Her family is seeking donations to help pay funeral expenses. To donate, go to any Wachovia Bank and tell the teller you would like to donate to Henrietta Stagger's account.
This is a huge tragedy caused by two reckless and careless teenagers. Our thoughts are with Alicia Thomas's family.
