66 Year Old Woman Killed After Being Mauled By 2 Rottweilers in Dillon, SC

Dillon County Sherriff's Office reports that two rottweilers from a neighboring yard are to blame for the horrific attack that led to the death of 66 year old Sirlinda Hayes.

Billy Odom, the victim's nephew, states that he looked for his aunt and didn't see her until he was leaving her property. That is when he saw her "lying on the ground flat-faced". Odom immediately called 911 after discovering her body.

Officials state that the animal attack started in the victim's yard, 1556 West Main Street, and ended in her next door neighbor's yard. The owner of the dogs, Shawn Samuel was also attacked while trying to return the animals to their cages. Mr. Samuels is recovering in a Florence hospital after having to have his leg amputated as a result of the attack.

Dillon County Coroner reports state that the autopsy shows that Ms. Hayes died as a result of the injuries she sustained during the vicious animal attack.

Funeral services are being held at New Spring Hill AME Church in Dillon.
