7-Year Old Dies After Hit by Car

Seven-year old Devonte Bonaparte died Friday, just a day before his eighth birthday, after he was hit a by a car earlier that evening.
The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Barton Lane in North Charleston. The child was playing in his yard, when he ran into the street and was struck by a passing car. Charleston County EMS rushed Bonaparte to MUSC, where he later died from his injuries.
The accident is being investigated, but police believe that speed was not a factor and no charges have been filed agianst the driver.
