Aiken Man Killed in Bicycle Accident

Aiken, SC - An Aiken man died after he was hit by a car while riding a tandem bicycle with his wife.
Gerald Hooker, 68, and his wife were traveling north on Banks Mill Road and at around 3:50pm, while
attempting to turn left onto Lone Oak Road, they were hit by a car that was trying to pass them.
The driver of the 2009 Ford that struck Hooker has been identified as 23-year-old Whitney Dunan, of Aiken.
Hooker and his wife were transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Hooker was pronounced dead and Hooker’s wife was later released after her minor injuries were treated.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
