Both Drivers Killed in Fatal Head-On Collision in Charleston on Hgwy. 176

March 31, 2011 - Charleston, SC - According to a report from the Herald Online, two drivers died after a fatal head-on collision in Charleston.

The fatal crash occurred in the morning on Friday Mar. 25 in Berkeley County. According to authorities, Ralph Daniels, 48, of Summerville was driving west in his truck on U.S. Highway 176 when he crossed the center line.

Daniels struck a pickup truck head-on. The second vehicle was operated by David Rudd, 38, of Givhans. Neither of the drivers was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and both were said to have suffered massive body trauma.

Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene of the head-on collision. Rudd was taken to Medical University Hospital, where he later died. There were no other people involved in the fatal crash that caused the road to be closed for almost 3 hours.
