Car Crash in Charleston County Kills One, Injures Three Others

March 4, 2011 - A car accident near Ravenel claimed the life of one man last Friday night. According to a report at ABC News 4, the accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on the Savannah Highway in Charleston County.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say 3 vehicles were involved in the car crash, which injured 3 people in addition to the fatality. A pickup truck slammed into a Cadillac, which then sideswiped a Honda vehicle that was driving southbound. Investigators have not said who was at fault for the Savannah Highway car crash.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 61-year-old man from Hollywood, was pronounced dead shortly after the car accident at MUSC. There were 2 passengers in the Cadillac who suffered serious personal injuries. They are being treated at MUSC, where both are expected to survive. One person in the Honda was also treated for a back injury and broken bones. A young child riding in the Honda was not injured.

Deputies are still investigating this fatal car crash, and they have not issued any charges as of this time. The driver of the pickup truck, who was apparently not injured in the accident, has not been identified.
