Goose Creek, S.C. - Around 4 p.m. on Nov. 19, a 17-year-old girl was driving three Goose Creek High School passengers into a residential neighborhood when her brakes malfunctioned.
While pulling into the residence driveway, her foot slipped off of the brake and onto the gas petal, launching the vehicle into the garage. The passengers jumped out of the vehicle when they saw smoke and flames coming from the engine. The driver ran into the home to rescue the family dog, while the others escaped through the broken garage door.
The home then caught ablaze and had to be estinguished by the Goose Creek Fire Department.
Fire officials said it appeared the engine had caught fire before the girl had pulled into the driveway, possibly causing the brake malfunction.
