Deadly Car Crash Heard on Driver's Cell Phone Call

Mrs. Brenda Ross was heading home to Sumter after visiting her daughter in Greenville when tragedy struck. A van, travelling the wrong way, collided with Mrs. Ross' vehicle. Moments before the crash, Mrs. Ross was talking on the phone and said "They are coming the wrong Way," according to accounts reported to coroner Gary Watts. The crash happened just east of Columbia, near US 378. Both Mrs. Ross and the driver of the van, Mr. Xavion Perry, of Columbia, were killed on impact.
