Driver Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Easley Found

Easley, S.C. - A hit-and-run accident on the morning of Saturday, December 11th in Easley, left an Anderson man dead. 
 

At around 1:18 a.m., 24-year-old Jeremy Ryan Crain was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier on Pelzer Highway when his vehicle was hit by a Chevrolet truck. The truck crossed the center line, struck Cain head-on, and then fled the scene.

Crain was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be extracted from his vehicle. Emergency responders found that he had sustained severe injuries. He was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

 

The accident is still currently under investigation and police request that persons with information related to the accident should contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol. 

UPDATE: The driver of the truck that struck Crain, 39-year-old Rufus Raiden III, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, December 12th. Police received a tip that Raiden was at the Greyhound station in Columbia, attempting to board a bus. Raiden has committed numerous other traffic violations in the past, including speeding, DUI, having open containers in a vehicle, and more. He is currently being held at the Pickens County Detention Center for the accident that killed Crain and will potentially be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
