DUI Plays A Role In Weekend Accident

One man is killed and two others suffered injuries after an early morning car accident on Sunday just after midnight.

According to the South Carolina Highway patrol, 30 year old Corey Allen Deas was driving his Ford Mustang along River Road between Howard Lane and Toby Road in McClellanville when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

The 2 passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected. One of the victims was identified as 19 year old York Maxwell, died at the scene. The other passenger, also 19 years old was transported to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the vehicle Corey Allen Deas is being charged with driving under the influence.

The accident is still under investigation.
