Head On Collision Kills Motorcyclist on Highway 61

Darrell Smith, 40, of Summerville was pronounced dead after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a sports utility vehicle along South Carolina Highway 61.
The accident occurred at 26409 Augusta Highway near Ridgeville at approximately 9:24 pm on Friday, May 20, 2011.
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey stated that Smith died from multiple trauma.
The driver of the SUV, whose name has not been released, was taken to Colleton Medical Center. Harvey states that we do not know the extent of her injuries.
