Jury Awards $8.5 Million in Mercury SUV Rollover Case

In 2003, Latoya Ducket lost her left leg below the knee and suffered paralysis to her right arm when her Mercury Mountaineer SUV rolled over during a car accident. In her injury lawsuit, Ducket alleged the vehicle was unstable and prone to rollovers. The Alabamal jury agreed and awarded her 8.5 million dollars. But, Ford Motor Co., the maker of the Mountaineer, could still appeal the verdict. Hopefully, instead they will choose to invest the time and money they could spend on appealing the verdict, in a better cause... making their vehicles safe for the motorists who buy them.
