Man Charged With Felony DUI in I-26 Accident

Charleston, S.C. - A Moncks Corner man, 60-year-old Samuel Thompson, Jr., was driving under the influence when he lost control of his car and hit into another car, causing an accident on I-26 on Tuesday, September 20th. The woman in the other car, 78-year-old Monica Deas, was taken to MUSC, where she died later that evening.

Thompson has been charged with felony DUI and is being held at Cannon Detention Center without bail. Thompson has a record for public intoxication and disorderly conduct and was previously imprisoned for forgery and receiving stolen goods.
