Man Killed On-the-Job in Honea Path

Honea Path, S.C. — After arriving at a work site the morning of Monday, November 5th, on North Main Street in Honea Path, a town employee was hit and killed by a car.

Forty-seven-year-old Michael Dean Darby was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson after paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. He was later pronounced dead due to the head and chest injuries that he sustained.

The accident occured around 707 N. Main Street where an underground water line was being worked on. Darby had arrived to help the workers when he was hit by William Sherard of Cross Hill, who was driving a Honda.

The accident is still currently under investigation.
