Moped Driver Injured, Teenage Passenger Killed in Piedmont County Accident

Anderson County, S.C. — A man was injured and a teenager was killed in a moped accident that occurred on Friday, November 25th, on U.S. 29 in Anderson County.
Twenty-one-year-old Michael Treadway was driving his moped with a 13-year-old passenger, Harly Jane McNeely, when he failed to stop at a stop sign while attempting to cross U.S. 29. The moped was hit by a 1983 Dodge Rampage pickup that was traveling on U.S. 29.
Neither Treadway nor McNeely were wearing a helmet when they were hit by the truck. McNeely died almost instantly and Treadway has been taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and is being treated for severe injuries. Ronald Aleshire of Williamston, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Treadway was staying at a church in Piedmont that is run by McNeely's parents.
No charges have been made at this time and the accident is still under investigation.
