Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding with DUI Driver

Kershaw County, S.C. - A motorcyclist was riding on Highway 341 in Kershaw County on the night of December 24th, when he collided with a van driven by a woman who was driving under the influence.
The motorcyclist, 49-year-old Michael Gaskins, was traveling south on Hwy 341 at around 11pm, when he hit a van that was coming out of a private driveway. The driver of the van, 30-year-old Michelle Anthony, and four of her six passengers were taken to local hospitals for injuries sustained in the accident.
Gaskins was pronounced dead at the scene and had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Anthony was received multiple charges, including felony DUI, endangerment of a child, driving with a suspended license, violation of a child restrain law and a law pertaining to alcohol.
The accident is still currently being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
