Mt. Pleasant Man Dies After Crashing Car into Fence

March 15, 2011- A young man was killed on Sunday in a single-vehicle accident in Mt. Pleasant. According to a report at Live 5 News, the fatal car accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon as the victim was traveling on a rural road in Charleston County.

Officers say the victim was riding in a car when the driver lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Main Canal Drive and Rifle Range Road. The car drove off the road onto the shoulder and crashed into a fence. There were two people in the car at the time of the car accident, but no other vehicles were involved. One of the victims, a 20-year-old man from Mt. Pleasant, was pronounced dead
at the scene. Officers have not said if he was the driver or a passenger. Another victim suffered serious personal injuries and is currently receiving treatment at MUSC in Charleston. The name and age of this victim have not yet been released.

Officers with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department are still investigating this fatal car accident, and they have not yet determined what caused the driver to lose control.
