Posted on Aug 26, 2010

Drinking and Driving Leads to Motorcycle Crash in North Charleston and Serious Injuries for the 23 year old Passenger. Responsible drivers know that drinking and driving are a recipe for disaster, but police suspect that a recent  North Charleston motorcyle crash was precipitated by a few drinks.

In the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 17th, North Charleston police responded to a motorcycle wreck with injuries. Police found a North Charlest man, Todd Coffield, trapped under his motorcycle.

Coffield’s 23-year-old female passenger was unconscious and transported by Charleston County EMS to Medical University Hospital. She suffered serious head injuries. Police have not said if the two were wearing helmets.

Mr. Coffield denied that he had been drinking, but police later determined that he was. North Charleston police have charged Coffield with felony DUI with great bodily injury. He is being held at Charleston County Detention Center.
