  • S.C. Supreme Court Overturns $18 Million Verdict The South Carolina Supreme Court has overturned an $18 million verdict against Ford Motor Company. A Greenville County jury awarded the verdict to Sonya Watson and Patricia Carter after an accident in 1999 that left Carter dead and Watson paralyzed. The lawsuit claimed that Ford Motor Company's Ford Explorer's cruise control had acceloration problems that caused Watson's Explorer to "take-off" while driving down the interstate. The Supreme Court has also granted Ford a new trial.
