Recycling Employee Dies After On The Job Accident

An employee was killed on Thursday, May 26,2011 at a Myrtle Beach recycling facility. Emergency crews were dispatched to Waccamaw Metal Recycling at 1626 Stockholder Ave around 1pm on Thursday in reference to a person being pinned underneath a dumpster.
Battalion Chief Bruce Arnel, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Fire Department stated that as the dumpster was being unloaded, it fell on top of the victim, who became pinned beneath the dumpster. The dumpster was removed and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
In a statement released after the accident Capt. David Knipes, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, the victim was an employee of Waccamaw Metal Recycling and has died.
The victim's name has not been released and is being described as a white male. Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard is currently in the process of notifying the victim's family.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center on Friday to determine the exact cause of death.
