Should Dog Be Put to Death For Vicious Attack on Neighbor

A pitbull attacked a neighbor in La Rose, Lousiana, inflicting serious injuries on the man attacked by the dog. Despite the viscious and dangerous qualities the animal displayed during the incident, the dog's owners say the dog is not dangerous and his life should be spared. The Lafourche County Sherriff's office and the dog owner's are at odds, with the Sherriff's office asking that the dog be put to sleep. The decision will be left up to a District Judge, who will determine the dog's fate.
Louisiana has a new dangerous animal law. The law calls for 6 months in jail and a $500 fine.
