Single Car Accident Causes Chain Reaction Accident

Dante Vann, 44 of Summerville was pronounced dead at the scene of a single car accident that happened along Interstate 26 near milemarker 196. It is being reported that the single car crash occurred when Vann's vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree causing it to burst into flames.

It is being reported that the single car crash involving Vann is what triggered the chain reaction accident that happened just minutes afterwards. While stopped in traffic 3 vehicles were sideswiped by a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer then ran into the median where it struck several trees, one of which fell on another vehicle that was in the roadway. The driver of the tractor trailer; Ernest White, 72, of Wadmalaw Island, was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Five people were taken to local hospitals with injuries. Information on their conditions is unknown at this time.
