A Seventeen-year old boy died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a single car accident on Saturday, April 24, 2010. S.C. Highway Patrol believe the accident was a result of a drag race.

The accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. The boy and his friend, Kyle Cantu, 18, were driving south on Threatt Road, when the driver lost control, veered off the right-side of the road, and hit a tree.

The Kershaw County boy was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland, but his injuries were too severe and he died five days later. The passenger, Cantu, was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster for treatment. His condition is unknown.
