Two Attacked By Pit Bull, One Dead

Ethel Horton, a 65-year old, Lee County woman, died yesterday after
being fatally attacked by a family pit bull. Ethel and her husband, Jerry Horton, 71, were were outside with feeding their nephew's dogs, when the pit bull broke his chain and began mauling Jerry. Ethel tried to defend her husband, but the pit bull turned and attacked her as well.

Ethel died from her injuries and her husband was taken to the hospital for treatment. There is no word on his current condition. Lee County Sheriff E.J. Melvin told WIS-TV that the dog was killed after the incident.
