West Ashley Man Ejected from Dump Truck

March 10, 2011 - A South Carolina man was killed on Wednesday when he was involved in a rollover accident while driving a dump truck. According to a report at Live 5 News, fatal truck accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Department say the victim was behind the wheel of a dump truck when he lost control of the truck in the 5000 block of County Line Road. The truck accident took place near the intersection with Hyde Park Road. Deputies say the victim was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as a 59-year-old man from West Ashley. County Line Road was shut down for several hours as the Sheriff's Department investigated the fatal truck crash.

Pictures from the scene show the mangled wreckage and indicate that the dump truck rolled over on the side of the road. The truck was carrying sand at the time of the truck accident. No other vehicles were involved and no additional injuries were reported. Investigators have not said if speed played a role in this fatal truck accident.
