Posted on Jan 31, 2013

North Charleston, S.C. - Lisa Pistolis, 25, of Hanahan, was driving eastbound on I-526 when her car drifted off the roadway into the center grassy median, Spencer Pryor, North Charleston police spokesman said.

Pistolis attempted to get back on the road, but hit a SUV and both vehicles spun out of control. The SUV also flipped multiple times in the wreck, which happened near I-526 and Dorchester Road. Pistolis charges include felony DUI involving death and felony DUI with great bodily injuries.

According to court records, at the time of the arrest, she was awaiting a jury trial for a February 2012 charge of first-offense DUI.

Driver Serjei Cahuantzi, 35, of Charleston, died at the scene, reported Charleston County Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal. Cahuantzi was ejected during the crash, said police. The passenger in his vehicle was transported to Medical University Hospital.

A third car was invovled, but the two passengers were not seriously injured.
