Wrong Way NC Driver Dies After Crash on I-85

Blacksburg, S.C. - On the night of Wednesday, December 8th, a North Carolina man drove the wrong way on Interstate 85 in Blacksburg, causing an accident that fatally injured him. wrong way on I-85

Eighty-two-year-old Ernest Slade Jr. of McLeansville, NC, was driving a Mercury north on I-85 when the accident happened. His vehicle was hit by a vehicle that was travelling south on I-85. It was suspected that Slade ended up on the wrong side of the road after entering the interstate from the South Carolina Welcome Center entrance.

Emergency responders pronounced Slade dead at the scene. The accident is still currently under investigation and autopsy will be performed.
