York South Carolina Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Deputy

74 year old Anton Hornung, Sr. passed away after being fatally struck by a sheriff's deputy's car on Sunday morning around 1 a.m. According to reports, Mr. Hornung was walking along the road on state Highway 901 when the incident occurred. The deputy, 26-year-old deputy Clifton Conant was driving the patrol car. Conant was placed on administrative leave, pending the crash investigation. Authorities say the deputy was not responding to a call when the man was hit.

The coroner's office reports Mr. Hornung died at the scene from trauma.
