Belton, S.C. — A woman sustained injuries in an accident after she was riding her bicycle in the wrong lane and was hit by a motor vehicle on the morning of Monday, January 2nd.
Brittany James, 22, was heading south in the northbound lane of Dorchester Road near Belton
when she was struck by an SUV, driven by 29-year-old Johnny Cawthon, that was headed north. Cawthon swerved to try to prevent the accident; however, he could not avoid colliding with James.
The bicyclist was transported to AnMed Health Medical Center. Her condition is currently unknown. Cawthon did not experience any injuries in the accident.
Charges have been filed for James because she contributed to causing the accident. Cawthon was not charged.
