Mount Pleasant, S.C. – On Saturday, March 3rd, a Mount Pleasant police major crashed his Jeep while driving under the influence and was later charged with DUI.
Maj. Frank Riccio, was placed on paid administrative leave after he was charged with driving under the influence. Riccio’s future with the police force is dependent upon the outcome of an internal investigation.
Fifty-one-year-old Riccio was driving a 1997 Jeep on U.S. Highway 17 near Georgetown at around 2:05pm when the accident occurred. His vehicle turned over on its side on the median after running off the left side of U.S. Hwy 17.
Riccio was taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center and has since been released on a $997 personal recognizance bond.
No other details have been released and the incident is currently being investigated.
