Beaufort, S.C. – On Friday, February 24th, a naked man stole a fire truck at an apartment complex, hit several cars, and then hit and killed a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk.
Beaufort firefighters were responding to a medical call at the Laurel Hill apartments when Kalvin Hunt, who was not wearing any clothing at the time, stole a Port Royal fire truck.
Hunt began driving the fire truck, hitting at least seven other vehicles on the road, while traveling in Port Royal and near Lady’s Island Bridge. Hunt then hit a pedestrian, 28-year-old Justin Miller, who was walking on the sidewalk with his brother. This caused the truck to crash into a tree, pinning Hunt inside the vehicle.
Beaufort police officers freed Hunt from the truck, and then Hunt began assualting the police officers.
Three officers and one EMT were injured and had to be taken to the hospital as a result of the incident. Miller did not survive being hit by the fire truck.
Hunt was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He has not been charged with Miller’s death. Police are still currently investigating the incident.
