Beaufort County, SC – An ambulance accident on Tuesday, January 31st in Beaufort County left one person dead and three others injured.
The ambulance, carrying four people including one patient, was traveling on Old Sheldon Church Road when the wreck occurred. The driver of the ambulance, Eugene Kirkland, 43, allegedly drove off the right side of the road and then overcorrected, causing the ambulance to crash into a tree.
The person riding in the passenger seat of the ambulance, 56-year-old Blandelle Gary, did not survive the accident. Gary was traveling in the ambulance with her husband to their Yemassee home when the accident occurred.
The ambulance driver, a medical worker that was in the back of the vehicle, and Gary’s husband, were taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and a Savannah hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
