Clover, S.C. – Two pedestrians were hit by a car while walking down Highway 321 in Clover on the night of Monday, January 2nd, leaving one seriously injured and the other dead.
At around 6:30 p.m., a driver hit a woman and a man who were walking at the intersection of Highway 321 and Jimmy Carter Road. The car was traveling northbound when it hit both of the pedestrians.
The woman was pronounced dead when emergency responders came to the scene. The name of the woman has not yet been released.
Thirty-six-year-old Jerry Rose Jr., of York, S.C., was the man who was walking with the woman who was killed. He was taked to Carolinas Medical Center Main to be treated for serious injuries that he sustained in the accident. He has been listed in critical condition.
Jerry Beverly, 25 of Gastonia, N.C., was identified as the driver who hit the pedestrians.
There have been no charges as of today and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
