Columbia, S.C. – A pedestrian was hit and killed in the Five Points area of Columbia on Saturday, May 5th.
Justin Timmerman, 24, of Chapin, was attempting to cross Harden Street when he was struck by an SUV. Timmerman died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the SUV, 24-year-old William Carlen, was driving under the influence when the accident occurred and was consequently charged with felony DUI, driving with a suspended license, and failure to surrender his suspended driver’s license. He is currently being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center under a $250,000 bond.
The Columbia Police Department is investigating the incident.
