Charleston, S.C. – A woman was hit and killed by a car while attempting to cross Savannah Highway on the morning of Monday, October 31st, 2011.
According to police, fifty-one-year-old Maria McIntosh, of West Ashley, experienced blunt-force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.The accident allegedly occurred around 7:00am when McIntosh was trying to cross Savannah Highway, near Wantoot Boulevard, when she was hit by a minivan. It is believed that McIntosh was crossing the roadway in an attempt to catch the bus.
Parts of Savannah Highway were shut down while the victim was being tended to and the police were investigating the collision.
