Colleton County, S.C. – The truck driver of a rig hauling water bottles is alive after hitting the guard rail on I-95 and sliding down an embankment into a creek.
The incident occured around 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23 on I-95 northbound near the 55-mile-marker.
The entire load of water bottles were launched through the front of the trailer and into the creek. Some of the load hit the back of the cab, crushing the truck’s sleeper unit and even removing the roof, officials said.
Crews worked over eight hours to get the truck out of the creek and to clean up the diesel fuel that leaked.
