Samantha Erin Cawthorne died two days after graduating from Clemson University when she suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) while rollerblading. The 21-year old was skating alone in the South Carolina Botanical Garden on the Clemson campus. Cawthorne ran into a guardrail and hit her head knocking herself unconcious. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, but died later that night. The Pickens County Coroner reported that she was not wearing a helmet.
Samantha Cawthorne graduated from Clemson with honors and a Bacherlors in physics. The college is working with her family to set up a charity in her honor.
