Laurens County, S.C. – A woman has been charged with felony DUI after surviving an accident on Highway 14 that killed her husband and injured another woman.
On Saturday, January 28th, Amanda Dickert, 24, was driving under the influence on Highway 14 in Laurens County when the accident happened. At around 4:00pm, near Wilson Road, Dickert’s Kia crashed into 56-year-old Phyllis Lyons‘ Chrysler, that was traveling in the opposite direction.
Dickert’s husband, 26-year-old Joshua Dickert, who was riding in the passenger seat, was not wearing a seat belt and did not survive the crash. He had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Amanda Dickert was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Lyons experienced injuries in the crash and was taken to Laurens Emergency room. She was later released after receiving treatment.
Amanda Dickert was charged with felony DUI involving death and is being held in the Laurens County Detention Center.
