Wagener, SC – An accident in Wagener on Thursday, April 19th that left one man dead and a woman seriously injured may have been caused by a malfunctioning accelerator.
At around midnight, an F150 pick-up truck failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of New Holland Road and Gunter Pond Road, causing it to crash into a Honda Civic.
Investigators reported that the pick-up truck driver explained that something was wrong with the accelerator.
The driver of the Honda Civic, 20-year-old Chase Ray, did not survive the accident. Ray’s passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Palmetto Health Richland to be treated for her injuries.
The pick-up truck driver and his passenger also sustained injuries in the collision.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
