Johnston, S.C. – On Thursday, April 5th, one man was killed and another was injured in an accident in a peach field near Johnston.
Around 4:00pm, police received a call about a possible electrocution. Emergency responders were sent to the scene and took the injured man to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital. The other worker did not survive the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Allegedly, the accident occurred while the workers were laying aluminum irrigation lines in the peach field. They had to cross a creek and instead of sliding the large pipe across the creek, they stood the pipe on end, causing it to make contact with a power line.
Neither the identity of either of the workers, nor the condition of the injured worker, have yet been released.
