Moncks Corner, S.C. – Two vehicles were involved in an accident at the intersection of Highway 52 and Old Highway 52 on Wednesday, March 7th, in Moncks Corner.
At about 9:30am, Joan Chalmers, 77, failed to stop at a stop sign when she made a left onto Highway 52 from Old Highway 52. Her Nissan sedan was hit by a Chevy truck driven by Gene Pipkin, 53, that was heading west on Highway 52.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Pipkin was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and was transported to Trident Hospital. His passenger was not injured in the accident.
Chalmers and her passenger were taken to MUSC to be treated for injuries that they sustained in the accident. They were both wearing their seat belts.
Chalmers has been charged with failing to stop at a stop sign.
